"The need got greater and greater, and the closet got smaller and smaller." — Mare Burns, Pantry Coordinator
The Turning Point Food Pantry began with humble roots, operating out of a small church closet. As the challenges facing our community grew, so did our mission. Today, our outreach has expanded into a full-scale warehouse operation, serving as a pillar of support for hundreds of families across Scott County.
Through our partnership with Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, we have transformed from a small internal ministry into a robust community resource capable of providing fresh produce, protein, and essential staples to those who need them most.
15.2% Food Insecurity: Scott County faces some of the highest hunger levels in Indiana. We are here to bridge that gap.
80% Seniors: The majority of our neighbors served are retired adults on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on our pantry to help offset the rising costs of housing and healthcare.
180+ Boxes Monthly: During peak seasons, our volunteers prepare and distribute hundreds of pre-packed food boxes.
Fresh Focus: Thanks to a $5,000 grant from Gleaners, we now utilize a commercial cooler to provide fresh, nutritious vegetables and fruits.
"We just try to be a blessing." Our outreach is powered by a "second family" of dedicated volunteers. Whether it’s packing boxes for three hours before dawn or directing traffic in the freezing snow, our team is committed to the "first in, first out" drive-up model that respects the dignity and convenience of our neighbors.
Beyond the Distribution Line: Our ministry doesn't end when the gates close. Our volunteers remain flexible throughout the week, building emergency boxes for families in crisis and holding supplies for those who can’t make the scheduled times. At Turning Point, if you have a need, we will find a way to meet it.

"The people are so grateful. They will tell us, 'Well, if it wasn't for you, we wouldn't be able to buy our medicine.'" — Mare Burns
